Family Fishing Day Celebrates Mill Creek Park

August 10, 2006 (Youngstown, OH) – Local 570WKBN radio hosts, Denny Malloy and Rob Palowitz of The Outdoor Icon Show which airs every Saturday from 6 – 7 a.m., announce The First Annual Carp Classic. The FREE family oriented tournament will be held at Lake Glacier in Mill Creek Park this Saturday, August 12th from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Entry is free and can be downloaded from the outdooricon.com or 570wkbn.com websites respectively. Walk-in applications are available at the Clear Channel Radio complex located on South Avenue in Boardman, Ohio across from Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center. Registration via phone can be done through Friday by calling 330-629-9056 or 330-507-9489.

Prizes will be given for the top 5 heaviest fish with additional prizes for top fish caught by a child under 16 yrs. old and top fish caught by a senior citizen. A ceremonial first cast will occur at 10 a.m. kicking off the tournament. Community co-sponsors of this event include, Aqua Ohio, Nestle, American Produce, Whitetails Unlimited, PALO Creative, Dicks, Gander Mountain, Pure Fishing, White Oak Manor and Outdoor Icon Promotions.

Malloy and Palowitz hope to introduce young fisherman to the sport and also rekindle memories of past fishing expeditions to our great resource, Mill Creek Park. Malloy stated, “Many of us cut our teeth chasing carp in the park which started our passion for fishing and the great outdoors”. Palowitz hopes this opportunity can bring a few families closer and get the kids hooked on fishing for life.
